Default s40 air con on/off warning light very dim to

i find the on/off switch warning light very difficult to read in the daylight.
i was thinking about putting another l.e.d. onto the dash, and wiring it up to the switch, however after consulting the manual, i was scared off the idea, due to all the switches being on one printed circuit board, as you know, one mistake and it ends up an expensive venture.
is there a wire somewere between the switch and air con unit, that can be tapped into to feed a wire to a seperate l.e.d.?
or has anyone got any ideas on how to modify things so that you can read the on/off light.
thanking you in anticipation.
