Default V70 USB problem

Recently had software loaded by dealer for the usb/ipod accessory, which had alrady been fitted in the car by previous owner.
Display allows selction of aux, usb, ipod, but after selecting usb and once prompted to connect usb, music only plays for about 20 seconds.
Complete radio unit goes off, display blank. If radio is turned back on (without switching ignition off) usb and ipod are greyed out. If ignition is switched off and back on then radio is switched back on USB and ipod are available again, but as before music only plays for abou 20 seconds.
Dealer has reloaded software for usb/ipod unit with no improvement. They now believe it is the usb ipod unit and although the car is only 16 months old of which time 9 months it was a demonstrator they claim the problem is not warranty. It appears all power is removed from the radio/display when music stops. Car has previously had a problem where all displays went off including fuel gauge etc, which they claim to have fixed and also claim is not in any way related. Any ideas as to cause?

Hi Colin:

I have the same problem in my XC70 [2008]. Did you solve the problem by any chance?

Cheers,

Jim.
