I had this, dealer first cleaned out the AWD pump. OK for a while and message reappeared. Pump replaced an all is still OK 9 months later. All under warranty.

Spoke too soon took family to Stansted last night and as I started back got the message AWD disabled service required. Will book into dealers today. Is this a common problem?

ShouldI be asking Volvo for some form of extended warranty as mine runs out in March 2016? I don't want to. E paying for this every year so so!!

Just for the record.
Since my original post end Feb and recalibrating the Haldex pump current limits at the dealership, the problem has been absent. Mileage is now ~70k km. Note that nothing has been cleaned or replaced, just a setting which was updated.
Do ask the dealer for the error code (number and description), my guess is that there are people on the forum able to interpret those!

In at dealers today, phone call to say it is sorted. Collected the car and lasted all of 300 m before spirited pull away from a roundabout and "AWD disabled service required" message appeared. Straight back to dealer and they have ordered another new pump. It was replaced in May last year so has lasted only 16 months.

There must be something else causing this?

Any ideas?

I have contacted Volvo to see what can be done.

Back to the dealers on Monday, from my man at Volvo there is now a technical bulletin and a software update for the problem.

Spoke to the dealer this morning and they and Volvo are aware of the problem and are confident that the software update will cure it.

Time will tell.

A friend of mine had the same problem which recurred several times it was eventually traced to a faulty front wheelbearing

Whyman,

What the dealer said? Have they managed to solve the problem?

Thanks.

Just blank looks when I mentioned the front wheel bearing.

No problems since the last visit so fingers crossed.

I have extended the warranty for a year just in case.

Whyman,

So the dealer just did the software update or have they replaced anything else? I have a same message on my XC60.

Thanks.

As far as I am aware they replaced the pump again at the same time as they did the software update.
