How does that work then? Is there a key hole in the tailgate that i just have never noticed for manually deactivating the boot central locking and disabling the boot release switch in the car? Surely the car key cant sense the missing metal blade.....?

When you have the radio on FM and set to receive traffic announcements you can't see which local radio station is broadcasting the travel update. But, if you select the telephone or MyCar screens then the radio station name is displayed in the top bar. At least that what seems to happen on my MY13 XC60.
I find it useful to know which station is broadcasting especially in the Leeds area where you can pick up Leeds, Humberside, Sheffield, York and the one I'm normally interested in when heading home, Tees.

You have to lock the glove box first with the key which then deactivates the tailgate. You keep the key which then means that the valet/chauffeur cannot get at your valuables - or your spare wheel for that matter.

When you disable the rear window function to stop children playing it also activates the child locks, and also de-activates when you enable the function.

Really clever from a family car perspective when you have a mixture of adults / children travelling.

Doesn't do that on my '09 reg XC70, there is a small plastic slot in each back door you have to turn thro' 90 deg to operate the child lock.

Just remember when you've got it activated: I got home with my seven year old daughter once and was focussed on bringing the shopping in. I got inside the house and was telling my daughter to stop messing around and get out of the car and in the house. After about a minute I lost patience and went out to find her totally distraught at not being able to open her rear door as normal......................bad Daddy, remorseful Daddy.
