Default 108k service/ timing belt/towbar

Hi I have an expensive springtime coming up with my v70 - 2009 2.4d. It's on 99k and will be due it's 108k service in April which includes the timing belt. I usually use an independent mechanic - not volvo specialist but an excellent mechanic- but as my car had a full volvo service history I was tempted to get volvo to do the service or at least the timing belt. How much am I looking at for the big service? How much if it's just a full timing belt including pullies etc?
Is it wise to.get volvo to replace my timing belt or should I.save some money and buy the kit and get my mechanic to do the full service?
The other expense I have is a towbar. How much will volvo charge? I realise that I will need the ecu remapped, can I get a witter fitted and get volvo to do the remap?
I'm buying a caravan by spring so on top of a service and towbar I'm trying to get some decent prices!
Thanks in advance

The same service for my 2010 D5 was quoted as over £700.00 at my dealer.

In a word... Expensive

Yes it's all belts and pulleys every 108k and aux belts every 54k. If you trust your mechanic then take it there, get a Gates or a Volvo belt which I think is also a Gates belt anyway. My Volvo dealer charges £85 per hour for labour so there's a comparative price to work from.

Towbar wise it's complicated, if it's an auto they recommend having a larger oil cooler fitted but I haven't. I wouldn't bother with a Volvo towbar, big ugly things with those silly covers on the back of the car; I have a Thule detachable that you can't see at all when its off. All I did was remove rear bumper and plug it in to the wiring look with a dedicated wiring kit. Total cost about £300 and I did it in a few hours including painting and cleaning as I went.

108k is the biggest service the car needs, it isn't cheap but it covers lots of things. Also if the car is an auto if I were you I'd seriously look in to getting the gearbox oil changed too. It's supposed to be fill for life fluid but it's best to change it around 100k miles and have the box put through an adaption process

A Volvo garage quoted me £780 for the belts and labour. As it was I bought the parts from FRF and had a good garage (not Volvo "indie") fit them. Total cost was about £190 for the belts and pulleys/tensioned and £250 labour. I would have done it myself but it was too cold to be messing about on the drive.

As for the service, did it myself.

Thanks for the replies. The car is a manual
Timing belt: so it's not a volvo specialist job? That's a relief as I will get my garage/mechanic to do it - should be cheaper than Arnold Clark Inverness /Aberdeen lol
How much is the full kit?
Towbar: witter quoted about £500 fully fitted including " electrics" will a remap still be needed?

I would also consider doing the alternator clutch pulley.
It's now past its nominal service life and is unlikely to last to your next belts service.
I would imagine it will be cheaper to swap it now whilst they're in there rather than doing it as a stand alone job in the future.
