I generally get parts from here (or a couple of ebay stores).

Arnold Clark Aberdeen is my local dealership too, I've found it cheaper to drive down to Dundee to get work done before!!!

The only thing i will say in the dealership service is, i get a free mot and 12mnths RAC europe cover included. I went on the RAC website and 12mnths cover is around £100, and an MOT is between £40 and £50. If you factor them in to the quotes i got from indipendants there was very little in the price. Not sure if all main dealers do this btw, or if its only if you bought the car from them etc etc.

They all do it. Mine came from a car supermarket and Volvo serviced it then a 1yr EU wide breakdown cover thing was given to me. Ideal as I go abroad at least once, if not twice a year. Single trip EU breakdown cover is £80 from RAC.

This alone means I will always dealer service the car.

Buy the belts cheap from Rufe, have a reputable garage do the change and then take it to Volvo and get an "Essential Service" which will take care of most other items and still includes Volvo assistance. You'll just need to check the service sheets for items like fuel filter to make sure everything is done.

Mind you, i was quoted that price and mine will be below 80k by the time the service is due. As the belt is 10yr or 108k and the car is a 60 plate im a bit confused as to why they want to do belts. It also has the modified pulley done some time ago.

I was quoted over £700 for my S80 at Strathmore which was for service and belts. £635 for Volvo towbar and £735 if you want the removeable one. I know you can get them fitted cheaper but I wanted the dealer to do the fitting.

Check out Volvopartstrade on ebay. Its the Newcastle dealer, their prices on bits are very good. You can message them for bits and bobs not listed. My local parts desk, part of same group, are equally keenly priced.
