Default Disable alarm sensors

My alarm (2007) has been randonly sounding.
I removed the fuse to the siren, which has temporarily sorted the noise.
However, this brings up an 'alarm service' mesage.
Also, the hazards sometimes flash, so the alarm is still being activated.
I know this can happen when the alarm battery is dying, so guess it's that?
Can I simply replace the alarm battery?
For now, I have been using the centre console 'disarm internal sensors' button.
Notwithstanding the issue of insurance, can I in fact just disable the alarm, and the internal sensors permanetly, and if so is this only possible with VIDA?

Yes you can remove the alarm permanently
Needs a dealer visit to reconfigure the car as having no alarm

But it may be cheaper to fix the fault... VIDA tells you what activated the alarm....
