Its a baby 👶
It has low mileage for these cars.
Yes there will be regular repairs of a few hundred quid every so often as bits simply wear out but way less than the depreciation on a newer car. Mine has 155k on it and a fantastic engine and gearbox that have never been touched except oil changes. Most of the suspension bushes wheel bearings and brake parts have been replaced over the last 7 years.

My 2009 R Design has 145k miles. It was passed down to me by my Dad, who'd owned it from new. In all that time the only fault has been one of the xenon headlamps modules needing replacement, which was 90 odd quid. Properly maintained - mine has full dealer history, and I intend to keep it that way - another decade and another 145k is easily attainable.
If 30mpg is making you think twice then 2 1/4 tonne AWD behemoths really arent for you in the first place. You can either afford to run and maintain one properly, or you cant - none of the series 1 cars were cheap, and some cost in excess of 50k (mine was 44k in 2009) and just because its 10 years old now doesnt mean the repair billls have got a single penny cheaper. You're either prepared to make the financial commitment, or you're not - if you're already baulking st the fuel costs then you're not going to enjoy paying to maintain one properly either, and if you don't do so then you risk it biting back. But I love mine and intend to run it for as long as is feasible I much prefer it to my old X5. I suspect the availability of diesel is liable to be an issue long before the car itself becomes unreliable. Last edited by Dastardly Diesel; Jan 26th, 2020 at 11:05. |
