Default cruise control randomly goes off

Hi All

I have a 57 (2008) XC 90 auto trans

cruise control normally works fine, occasionally it will turn its self off and not turn back on. To be clear, the word cruise dissapears from the dash and when pressing the button wont come back. This is rectified by turning the engine off and on again.

Car otherwise behaves normally. what could cause this, i have vxdiag no codes logged

Check operation of brake pedal sensor (and clutch if manual).

This happened with my 54 plate xc90 turned out to be transmission fault, New valve body sorted it.

If you get any issues with torque converter lockup - it disables cruise control.

Yes it was the clutch position sensor on mine.

My only experience with this may not be relevant. My 2.0d ghia x mondeo manual would cut the cruise as the clutch was slipping. So if going up a steep hill the car would apply throttle then the clutch would slip slightly and turn cruise off. Good luck finding the problem.

I had a problem with my V40, kangaroo petrol syndrome, when using cruise control, turn out to be a lose wire in a multi wire plug from the steering wheel, into the engine bay.
