inner track rods
Well I think thats what they're called! I've just bought some track rod ends off ebay and they come with the inner track rods (as a package) - has any body fitted them? I've looked in Haynes but there is no mention of them. I would presume they're easy to fit but knowing Volvo I'm not sure and don't want to start dismantling if there are any special tools or setup required (I'll just fit the ends if necessary).
I've no reason to believe they'rte worn but as I've got them I thought i'd fit them. Any help? Regards, Dave. |

RE: inner track rods
From what I remember, if you don't need to change the inner track rod arms, don't even think about it. You will need special tools to dismantle and reassemble the joint at the steering rack end. Unless the car has loads of miles on it or the rack gaiters are split then you shouldn't have much play in the ball joints at that end. Just change the outer joints and save yourself the grief.

Many thanks, I think I'll leave the inners until they actually need to be replaced.
