My dealership has been investigating this ADAS recalibration issue today and they've asked around (one person asked was a Volvo master technician, apparently). In conclusion, it appears that an ADAS recalibration is not required if you get your wheel alignment checked and adjusted.
I would double-check this though. Tens of thousands of recent Volvos must have had a wheel alignment checked and corrected in the last few years and I can't believe that every single one of those then had to take their cars to a Volvo dealer to get a full ADAS recalibration done. Perhaps the wheel tracking shop was just covering itself? Windscreen replacement is a different kettle of fish and would require ADAS recalibration, to the best of my knowledge.

I'm glad you got an answer of sorts, but I wouldn't rely on it if it was just from your dealership asking around, and I'm surprised they resorted to that. The only correct answer is from the actual wheel alignment service procedure, which Volvo will have written for your car - this is likely saved in VIDA which the dealership should have referred to. No guess work is needed.
ADAS recalibration is a common thing to do on modern cars so it's worth getting to the bottom of it if you do have the alignment done. HTH. |
