Yeah looks like quite a DIY jobby on some of the videos (may try the card off squirt lubricant there first) - if still not happy, I may leave this to someone else, time is a little precious at the moment.

Hmmm ok - I will get Volvo to do a courtesy check on Saturday if they will, then will look at some independents around me, or will probably ask my mechanic to have a look and give me a quote for the job - ideally I would want Volvo to say "Yes it needs X" so can go elsewhere then.

locking and unlocking still issue on that door - will source a door catch assembly unit, any links would be grateful, I will most likely DIY this.

Would something like this be ok: https://www.autodoc.co.uk/bugiad/15094573
make sure you get one from a car newer than yours or you will be doing it again in a year or so... You wont want to do that job again trust me !
Just buy a new modified one fit and forget .

My car does exactly the same with the same door. You can hear it almost unlock but there's an extra slight click as it fails to unlock and re locks again. Mine also seems to work ok on very rare occasions.

The flashing of the indicators on locking and unlocking seems to change when it happens but I've not quite figured it out. I think if they don't flash on locking then the door won't unlock again or something like that.

Mine's booked in for an MOT next week, I've booked it in somewhere with a 1 hour time slot so I can leave it unlocked while I sit and wait.

I would be most interested to hear your diagnosis.

Certainly will report back once I have got a diagnosis - just more annoying than anything else really - seems I am not the only one living with this issue it seems.

(update)

Been into Volvo this morning, had the seatbelt recall sorted.

Asked them to check the nearside door, needs new lock to fix the issue, quote of £400 to do.

No goodwill of course due to age and mileage on my car, thought so anyway.

So, with that in mind I may get a few more quotes to see if I can get it cheaper, I'm sure I can

That's a pretty good quote . the part is over £200 and 1.2 hours labour needed ...and VAT is a chunk at those cost levels

Tbh yeah you are right, I'm going to hold off for a little bit yet, need to get few other things sorted on the car this month (timing belt/service/brakes)

I will try to get one more quote from a Volvo specialist aswell, be interesting to compare.

I had similar probs on my V60. It cured up after I played with the locking switch on the drivers door. The one that locks every door and boot. Lock and unlocked a few times and it was OK. Touch wood not happened since. Worth a try.

Interesting, yes will definitely try this. I had another quote from a local Volvo specialist, £300+Vat, apparently there are no aftermarket parts for this part, has to be OEM - only £20 less than dealer!

Really not wanting to pay £300+ for such a thing at the moment, will definitely try as much as I can before having to pay out, door can still open from interior so it's still more an inconvenience at the moment for me.

If it's going to be an issue come MOT time (next July), I will just not lock the car, or maybe fix it before then.
