Default Problems starting, and other things

Hello all;
I've got a 2005 V50 2.0D. I noticed last week that the car was struggling to start - not firing on all cylinders, if you will. This week it's got worse. Initially I'd click the starter key two over for it to warm the coils up etc and all the dash lights were flashing on/off, and then when I tried the same nothing, except a faint clicking that is coming from next to the battery (I've had the bonnet up to check).

In addition to this, the doors aren't locking, and the steering wheel lock doesn't engage.

I'm assuming this isn't a simple battery problem as it's not what I've experienced before, and I'd had it checked recently (not great, but not bad).

Any ideas anyone? I'm an AA member so I'm going to have to get them out and potentially ship it off to a garage, but I'd like an idea of what is going on first...

Many thanks in advance

It could be the starter motor , Ignition Switch or battery .. same % chance for all 3 really ! Except that the recent change to cold weather would favour the battery slightly ...
