The idea is to find another car with bigger intercooler that will fit,not paying that kind of money for a intercooler, for example I seen a evo 7 intercooler for 50quid on ebay,so im wondering how big a intercooler will fit and what other cars have big intercoolers that could fit or what is the biggest dimension it can take.

As for dimentions i havent got a clue if you car has air con i would remove the rad which will give you more room i suppose if you remove that you want to be looking around the same dimentions but a larger core and aswell if your fitting a totally different one the pipeing will most likley need changing and buying new silicone hoses and pipe can be very costly

Going silicon or alloy any way and was thinking of some modifications.yea I have air con,not ever tried it though to be fair. I will get the dimensions but do you know any one who has used another cars intercooler on the t5,not actually looked at the t5 intercooler in han,is it that big?got one on the way with a radiator as my bracket broke ;-( so was thinking, while im there measure up and have a look out for bigger intercoolers that may fit in there with little mod, bigger intercooler the better I read. What is the core?the depth? ps not to good with turbo'd cars tbh with you there new to me.

There are race intercoolers availeble for the 850,50 mm thickness, that's 20mm more than original.
These are made from aluminium and come with all the piping you'll need. But you have to upgrade your chip aswell. Cost for a set 599euros. cheers, walter

The volvo intercooler is a huge size to start with compared to other cars so why do you want a bigger one? Unless you are drasticly increasing power of course ..

I totally agree with the above, gains from intercoolers are only worth while if the stock IC is very small and poorly postitioned, a good example of this is the Nissan 200Sx which as a small IC stuck in the front wing, a £200 front mount ebay kit makes alot of sense here , allows much higher boost limits and even shows an increase in boost over std with no other adjustments. But looking at the Volvo IC it's a decent size and well positioned infact a lot of tuners use the Volvo item as an upgrade on other cars, unless you are planning big boost increases I'd leave well alone. Fitting an oversize IC can also cause it's own problems with air speed, and excessive air volumes leading to poor running at all but high boost levels.
