Well, I contacted my local Volvo dealer, to advised him of the issue and he said he hadn't heard of the problem. I advised him to use the power of google. He said he would speak to Volvo UK and see of any technical notes on this and get back to me. He did and advised that Volvo would remove the screen and refit it, but I would be responsible of the screen should it break. I said it sounds a bit like ' Volvo will replace the roof, but the paint is fine, so you will have to repaint it'. I said that I will go ahead with the screen removal and if they break it, they will have to refit the broken screen and I will have to look at my windscreen cover rather than an additional £300 or so for supplying a new screen. They didnt question anything , other than wanting to check the car before its done. Not an issue, I can easily show the screen lifting 3 or 4mm from the roof !! We cant leave it with the water pouring down the screen.

Same issues here of water seeping in at the top of the screen, our dealers said £120 to re seal however we needed to stand the cost of a new screen should they break it.
We contacted Volvo uk and explained the situation and our concerns they have agreed to re seal the screen and stand any costs incurred during this even if the screen breaks.
A pretty fair result.....
I say talk to Volvo Uk explain it is a safety issue and suggest it should have been a recall do this politely and I think you will be surprised at their willingness to help.
Good luck.
Ours is a 2010 xc60 d5 full Volvo service history.

Default leaking windscreen

2010 xc60, 4200 miles, leak from top of windscreen. Dealer not interested. I await a response from Volvo UK. Is a line of silicone a bad idea?

Bad news of another screen issue. Sadly silicon wont help , as the windscreen is a major roof strengthener, so you will need it fixed and face the same scenario as myself.
Volvo even called the wife today to ask for our insurance details ' so should it break when removed, we can fit a new one '. Nice one Volvo, so then it costs you nothing . I will be calling them to tell them to refit the broken screen, than let them fit a new one on site. My policy states I must call the insurance company helpline should I have a glass issue before doing anything else. I don't know if the company they are using are contracted to do them for my insurance company.
Sadly bullstiff you aren't aware of most of the situations with my Volvos, so its nice to see you jumping to conclusions , but its a forum and that happens I suppose. Happy days..............

Today I unfortunately joined the unhappy water ingress club, same issue water in the passenger foot well, luv the car but boy have I spent some cash on it, think I may have to get rid as it is becoming a money pit as my 1982 Land Rover discovery did.

Shame I got rid of my trusty Kia Sorrento which gave me very few issues.

For the record my Volvo is a D5 205bhp Auto 2010 Plate with 180,000 miles

Just spent on new alternator plus rear brake pads and discs last month so don't feel like spending another £150 this month.

Well I joined the club, but suspect the car was like this before I bought it!!

MY2010 Xc60 D3 drive 101k miles.

Volvo want £169 to take out and refit provided the glass dosent break...

Extended warranty that came with the car won't touch glass or body panels

Dealer that sold it to me says smash the screen and claim it under insurance as they cannot do it.

Not happy with this outcome as I have bought the car last week of October, noticed it within 3 weeks and only just insured it! So my insurance claim is going to look fraudulent!!

Yep bought my 09 D5 in September 17, noticed passenger footwell was wet couple of days later. Car sales garage had screen removed and resealed. Been ok since but just noticed the other day a dribble of water at the bottom of the front of passenger door running into footwell again.
Not sure if this is the windscreen or a window/door seal yet.

Yes, can confirm our 2009 plate XC60 has had the proverbial sloshing for a while and now had a confirmed windscreen leak. (It's been permanently garaged over the winter whilst we were away so no current sloshing)

We were dreading having to take it to our local Volvo dealer who charges £100+VAT to even look at a problem and we've never been very happy with them. But someone let slip they don't do the screen work themselves. We found a screen specialist (Scotglass) who confirmed they would get a proper Volvo screen if needed and took the car there.

They removed the screen easily - the bonding had gone pretty much all across the top of the screen, and clearly the rest of the bonding was so poor that the screen came out with no breakage. Rebonded and now waiting to see if the slohing returns.

Kudos to Scotglass

Though we would have liked VCUK to have paid but it wsn't expensive as no new screen and we're prepared to pay to avoid the hassle of dealing with Volvo.

Default 2009 D5 XC60 screen re sealed for free!

so I bought our 2009 D5 xc60 from a private seller, on gumtree. During the the big heat we had a few months ago...

needless to say in the first big rain we had it leaked quite a bit. in the centre of the screen, and dripping out from the light unit and from under the mirror... My wife was furious at me for buying it.

So got on here, and a forum member suggested I take it to my local dealer.
So took the chance, with nothing to loose.

Had it booked in, next day had a call that it was all done, with 100% covered by volvo!
They also did a recall change on a pulley whilst it was in.

The only fee I had was £15 for a bit of wiring that needed chaging in the heating element in the camera and sensors bit in the top of screen for lane depart. (probably from water that got in?) they needed to change it before they could recalibrate it all.

Really amazed they re sealed it all free of charge even on a 9 year old car that I didn't purchase from them.
The guy booking it in said that it wasn't a recall issue but was a known fault. So it would have to be inspected first before they gave the go ahead. Someone had to come down to Cardiff to inspect it. All a lot of expense on volvos behalf. Great service!

So, I'm no longer in the wifes bad books, infact its the opposite for getting it fixed for free!

Well it rained today and the car revealed it's unbonded windscreen. Water running down the inside.
Upon further inspection, the screen moves away from the roof by a couple of mm.
I have contacted Volvo UK and they have suggested I contact my local dealer who are Stoneacre Lincoln.

Has anybody successfully had this work completed without any financial penalty to themselves?
