The guy who bought my gul for £4500, it was original low ish miles 115k ish and had been gone through number plate to number plate, it had a little paint / rust around a roof rail, which he was happy to fix. It suited him as he was after an original car, gul estate manual, in this case it was the supply / demand that determined the price i.e where do you get another from? The manual conversion olive 854t5r auto, I converted was to a 6sp with decent brakes and suspension, again to a young guy after a track car, not many have decent brakes and even fewer 6sp boxes, again £4500, thus car was a wreck when I bought it and slowly I repaired / modified it, although it had a good history and low ish miles. The laser a chap from London wanted to as it was unusual and not common place, he said it does a few miles a day, a total wreck when bought, again I went through it front to back. It had 3 weeks mot left when he bought it and text me to say it went straight through "no advisories" so quite pleased with that. I'm currently sorting another 4 at once, all of which I've had a while now, an olive green 855r auto I've had a couple of years, auto box gone, it's having all body sorted, 6sp (although I have an m59 and shafts in the work shop) and 100k engine fitted and new suspension etc, tempted to make it into a track car and keep. Gul 854 manual is going / should be to Volvo as a press car, fully restored with some decent suspension and brakes, incase they want to goodwood it, I'll be keeping this one. 940 project I'm working on as a new thing for me. V70r p2 sonic daily driver I rescued and repaired a split liner on, I doubt I'll sell this I run the kids to school In it as I don't work (house husband), I've been restoring it mechanically as big things were done but silly things not, it's a bit modded 3" down pipe and race cat (still in box lol) Jetex cat back fitted, kl intercooler I'll buy early 2015 and dreamer map at same time. Once I get a few projects finished and gone, maybe a year or so I'll be looking at retiring the sonic and buying a polestar (once they've come down a bit also) |

Interesting read sc. I'm slowly bringing back an olive green 855R auto. Manual conversion and engine from my T5 has gone in as auto box was on the way out and engine much better in T5. Eibachs on bilstein with ipd arbs to freshen up the ride but keep it looking stock. I have had a bigger turbo, injectors and down pipe fitted though with a remap to suit.
The thing was in a bit of a state when I got it, exterior is this year's project, it's a bit battered. Solid, but scratched and dinged all over. Interior is good though! I'd say that if that 854R is solid and well looked after, the price is high but not extortionate. I've spent a fair bit on mine now, oil cooler pipes, heater matrix pipes, vac hoses etc. etc. it all adds up, not to mention the amount of time it all takes.
