Double din and parking sensors
My wife has a Kenwood double din in her old V70.
She wants it moved to her XC90 There lies the problem. I've found some double din kits with all the leads and stuff which keep the steering wheel controls and stuff but they all say that I will lose the parking sensors as there is no lead for 02 to 04. Only 05 and on? Does anyone know about this and if there is a work around. How do they work. I know the sound comes from the rear left speaker but is there a module or is it part of the original stereo? Thanks for you precious time...... |

It's unclear to me what MY XC90 you have...
On the facelift XC90s, from around 2005 onwards, the audio system amplifier sits on the MOST fiber optic ring The telephone, navigation, parking sensors and radio are all routed through the MOST databus to the amplifier and then to the respective speakers If you remove the MOST system or the amplifier, and you lose all the connectivity for those audio devices. You then have to live without, or find other solutions Nothing is cheap or easy. You could add the AEM to get rear parking sensor beeps, or try and find some other interface. Or you could but a MOST interface to add an external analog audio source to your MOST system.

I'm happy to spend the money but can't find a solution. They are all geared up with a lead to solve the issue but for 2005 on cars. Apparently there is no solution for 02 to 04 cars. They changed the way the parking sensors are fitted apparently. I don't know what MOST stands for I'm afraid. |

Not too hard to find out what MOST is.
Not that this will necessarily help you... https://blog.fcpeuro.com/what-is-volvos-most-bus Cheers Dave |

The XC90 had MOST from it's introduction in 2002

Right, I've checked out what MOST is.
It's just a posh way of saying that the car has fibre optics routed in as circular fashion to facilitate lots of media to be connected. So, about the rear parking sensors. Does anyone know a way to get them to work independently. Or how they actually work or what the difference is between the 02 to 04 MY versus the 05 MY and on? Many thanks |

Difference:
Data bus addresses for sure Data bus message format maybe To get them working, intercept the data on the CAN bus and trigger an external beeper. Hardware and software development required. Which is exactly what the AEM does. I recall (maybe incorrectly) that the AEM has outputs for the reverse beeper You may be lucky enough to have the AEM wiring preinstalled in your vehicle Check the wiring diagram for the AEM. if the AEM includes reverse parking sensor beeper output, then that is the simplest way to get rear parking sensors working. Otherwise, you need to go down the road of CAN bus development....

Unbelievable, my memory was correct.
This is the pinout of the AEM (Accessory Electronics Module) Connector A is power, ground and CAN bus Pos Function Type A:1 Electrical distribution Ground A:2 Electrical distribution Feed A:3 CAN communication Input/output signals A:4 CAN communication Input/output signals Connector B has all of the accessory signals on it: Pos Function Type B:1 Remote heater start, minicall Feed B:2 Remote heater start, minicall Ground B:3 Remote heater start, minicall Input signal + Remote heater start, radio signal B:5 Engine heater Steering, alternating current feed B:6 Parking Assistance Feed B:7 Parking Assistance Input signal B:8 Parking Assistance Ground B:11 Handsfree, audio disengage Input signal B:12 Audio disengage Output signals B:13 Rheostat, audio Output signals B:14 Speed signal, audio Output signals + Speed signal, RTI Japan B:15 Alarm signal Output signals B:16 Alarm signal Output signals B:30 Antenna amplifier, audio Feed + dimmer, RTI Japan Output signals B:33 Alarm signal Output signals + RTI Japan Steering, X-feed B:34 Alarm signal Output signals + Reverse gear signal, RTI Japan Fitting an AEM is dead easy, see the PDF online: https://accessories.volvocars.com/en...20(-09)%202005 You may be lucky and may have the AEM wiring already in your vehicle You may be able to find an AEM at a wreckers As for using these signals: B:6 Parking Assistance Feed B:7 Parking Assistance Input signal B:8 Parking Assistance Ground Well, there you really need to try and see.... I cannot say what will happen
