Default Audio noise since glow plugs replaced

Yesterday I replaced my glow plugs on my ‘07 V50 2.0d, but now car seems to have developed a whining noise through speakers when accelerating. Doesn’t matter if radio on or not.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

I suspect you've knocked a suppressor (capacitor) or indavertently left it disconnected, prime suspect would be the alternator but the glow plugs shouldn't have any direct effect on something like this.

Retrace the steps you used when renewing the glow plugs and see if you can spot anything you maybe accidentally broke or forgot to refit.

Usually the suppressor on the alternator goes between earth and the B+ output so if you've inadvertently refitted the tag end of it to say the W terminal, it won't be suppressing the noise that will cause the whine through the speakers.

Alternatively it could be an entirely separate fault that just happened to occur at the time.

Cheers Dave, I didn’t touch anything on the alternator, just had the EGR valve and cooler removed to gain access to the plugs.

the earthing as in most cars isnt perfect. Just to check. You havent coincidentally had something new plugged into the aux port, or a cable plugged in and no device? or got anyrhing electrical in or near the aux port?

the reason I ask is that, I can deliberately get what you describe with a certain aux cable plugged in, but no device. It seems to pick up induction from somewhere. this is only with stereo on Aux tho

Still worth retracing your steps though, just in case there's something you dodn't notice.
May not be on the alternator, could be somewhere near it or as i also suggested, something totally unrelated.
