Exclamation Volvo V40 2014 (D4 Engine)

Hi Everyone,

Newbie here in a spot of bother.

I have a 2014 Volvo V40 R-design with a D4 2.0L Diesel. currently sitting at 79K Mileage

Its currently sitting in the garage of the Volvo down the dealership down the road.

I have just had a diagnostic carried out as the car has been "dropping coolant and the engine over heating warning please pull over was displayed on the dash"

After the diagnostic they've informed me that

The aluminum pipe that's part of the coolant system needs replacing
The injectors need doing and are leaking gas
and the turbo outlet is blocked and also needs something to unblock it
All of this work they have quoted to do is £2k

This is a labour intensive job from what I understand? I need my car for work as I commute a fair way each day and I need to get it back on the road. Has anyone experienced the same on this? Has anyone any advise on whether its worth keeping this car.

previous to this;

I had an engine light come on last year and they switched out the EGR valve after taking it in for a diagnostic and covered this for free.

Best regards,

Aaron

Have they explained why they need what they need and, if so, what was their explanation?

It may well be a labour intensive job, but you'll be paying dealership labour rates if they do the work...That's going to bump up the price significantly. Are there any other garages that you can bring it to, like an independent specialist to get another opinion/quotation?

It might also be worth paying for a compression test. A small coolant loss shouldn't lead to overheating.
