Default SRS light come on - anyone near with a check reset tool?

I've owned the T4 for 6 months and this lunchtime's the first time I've ever had the SRS light stay on - it was ok last night so, from what I've read on here, this *might* have been caused by my wife or myself sitting on the front seats when getting ready to go shopping and inadvertently triggering a dodgy wire.

I've got two OBDII tools that will show and clear engine codes but AFAIK that won't connect with the SRS codes.

That being so, is there anyone in the Peterborough area, or reasonably local that I could visit some time in the next couple of weeks to check what might have set the light off?

I've read on here that the underseat connection, or the SRS module itself are the usual suspects, but without being able to clear the code I don't want to start trying to dabble with the system.

MOT's not due until 30th May so I'm not too under pressure to deal with this.

Thanks

Most aftermarket OBD tools will not read reset the SRS light. Only some of the mid/higher end Autel readers can do it and the proper expensive ones like Snap On etc

What are the readers you've got?

Also, if the SRS module is faulty, then none of the aftermarket readers will be able to read the SRS0001 code, which means that the module itself is defective. Best way to find out, is with VIDA
I am not that near you, but if you are passing anywhere near East London. you are more than welcome to drop by. I will most probably be in every single day for the next month or so, due to all this Corona crap

As regards the readers I have I wouldn't have expected them to pick up anything other than general engine etc items (and they do that perfectly), so thx Gatos, I might take you up on the offer.

... actually Gatos, from listening to the recent articles re the Conovirus it sounds like London might be placed in "lockdown" and so perhaps I might not be able to even cross the DMZ line, somewhere around Walthamstow where Essex stops and 'Norf Lundon' begins.

I imagine checkpoints across the M11 ...

Crikey, these are weird times!

Hello there , first port of call would be to disconnect & reconnect any multi-plugs under the front seats . & possibly spray a squirt of electrical contact cleaner in as well . This issue is common across a large number of car makes . I know as I'm an MOT tester and see it many times a week . Upon retest the presenter informs me " Oh it was the connector under the **** seat "

You may even find the SRS light turns itself off once it knows there is not an issue

Most of the times it is indeed the SIPS connector under the seat and unplugging it/plugging in a couple of times is a good idea. However, on these cars, the SRS light will never go off on its own. It will need to be reset with a proper tool. Only exception to this rule, is one of the SRS components, the seatbelt buckle receptor where the seatbelt buckle goes in. If you unplug that one, it will throw up an SRS light, but if you plug it in, the SRS light will go off on its own. If any of the other SRS components is disconnected, it will throw an SRS light and it will not go away on its own, unless if the right tool is used to rest it
