The car has done about 150 miles on a full tank. Had a look underneath, best I could. It appears it’s coming from above the tank, but can’t be sure. The rear underneath of the car on that side is wet with diesel, but NOT on the tyre or inside of the wheel/brakes. I moved the car onto out gravel so it might soak up any more drips. Since moving the car, the drip seems to have stopped and the fuel gauge is reading just above 1/2 a tank remaining with the readout saying the range left is 440 miles. I am thinking that it only leaks when the tank is above a certain level or full? Is this similar to your problem and have you found the fault? I have my friendly local mechanic going to have a look at it on Tuesday 24th March. Any info appreciated. Thanks.

It is down to someone undoing the plastic ring to inspect the fuel gauge float for whatever reason , it is important to remove all the grit that falls down on to where the big green O ring seals it . also they do not have the volvo special tool which enables you to tighten the locking ring fully !

Its not a job anyone wants to do twice , very advisable to take it to a dealer who knows what he's doing ..

Have you tried taking all those seats out and in ? They weigh about 30 kg each . at least the ring is done up properly with the tool and you have a guarantee .

When my main dealer replaced the fuel sender they forgot to fasten the ring up, resulting in a large leak when full. Thats what I meant...
