I'm going to be upgraading my in laws S40 to the phase 2 headlights soon (have the headlights just waiting on some HID bulbs to turn up for the Hi beam. For the main low beam light I was thinking of doing something different from the norm here. I am considering using a H4 bulb, but cut down the mounting face to mount into the normal H7 - seen it on a few other forums (mostly motorbikes). This way I have less custom wiring to make, the extra high beam bulb will be powered by a seperate relay and power source. The only issue I can see is the low beam has a metal ring inside the reflector for the H7 bulb to have the correct pattern on low beam - H4 doesn't need this as the low beam filament has a metal shield built in for the same effect. Has anyone easily removed this metal ring?
