Remote key won't unlock or turn off alarm
Hello,
I've had a very irritating problem occur overnight. I locked my car as normal yesterday with the remote. This morning I tried to unlock it with the remote and nothing happened. I tried a few times but it didn't unlock. I then unlocked the drivers door with the key which set the alarm off. I started the engine with turned the alarm off. Tried to lock it with the keyfob but it didn't work. I tried with the spare key, still didn't work. I tried changing the battery in the usual key and it still didn't work. It was quite frosty this morning, after leaving the engine running for a few minutes I cleared the windows just in case that was obscuring something. Still no joy. Any ideas? I did have questions about the car battery itself, it's been a bit sluggish starting lately. The alarm sets itself after a few minutes as normal. It's a 2004 D5 XC70. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. I forgot to add, there aren't any messages on the driver information module. Last edited by 1981George; Jan 31st, 2022 at 07:49. |

I'm worried if it's the Upper Electronics Module (UEM) in the rear view mirror? Is there a way to check without VIDA?

Low battery can cause issues I'd say get that replaced ASAP if nothing else you could get stranded somewhere. Or take it somewhere and get it fully tested
Other things to rule out include interference from other things like hiab trucks with remote controller for the boom arm? Any building site nearby? But if you're saying the battery has been low that's my first guess |

Thanks for suggesting it, it would have taken me a while to join the dots. They've had 3-4 concrete pours over the last year and that hasn't happened before. |

Haha not bad for a random stab in the dark. In fairness it only occurred to me because its happened to me before
Another classic is the top golf car park where they have all that radio equipment tracking the balls |
