Default Airco makes hauling/rubbing sound

My climate control works fine.
Sometimes I hear this rubbing/hauling sound from out of the dahsboard as if two plates are rubbed against each other.
What can this be?

so the noise is only there when the air conditioning is on? Does the A/C blow cold?

could be the main fan unit bearing on its way out allowing the fan impeller to rub on the casing.... it is possible to remove the unit and replace the bearing...
see if it is worse when accelerating, braking turning left or right... this may allow the unit to lean and cause the rub.....

hope this helps...

FWIW, My aircon has started to make a kind of a grating sound from time to time?
I guess I should get it checked out also.

I also hear this grating sound from the dash when accelerating.
Mainly when the airco (ECC) is on!

Where is this sound coming from?

You mean check the main fan unit?
Where do I find it and can I check it withour removal?

If it was the fan I should hear that grating sound too (that is not the case) with the airco switched off, or not?
