Default 850 engine undertray

Does anyone have an undertray/splash guard fitted to their 850?

My engine bay was filthy when I bought the car and wondered about this then when I searched today online I notice they can still be bought. Looking under my engine I don't see any of the fixings for a tray so I'm not sure if it ever had one fitted.

How much are they and where did you see it John?
I would like one for my V70 if I canvetone! Also, I know the TDI's had them as standard but not sure about the petrol. Edison's. most V70's didn't have them, although I'm not sure why not. They do stop small oil leaks getting onto your drive.

I know of a couple of people with them. Not sure if mije every had one but it certainly doesnt currently.

From their explanation it fastens to the subframe, and there arent any additional requirements. Uses M5 bolts that screw into pre-existing holes, as per this link:

I do have two of these trays fitted to my 850 diesels, but not my V70,a. You can buy clips that fix to the chassis and they come with screws but I do believe the 850's all had the holes needed in the chassis.

I ordered an undertray from FRF and received a call the next day to say that I would be better buying from my local Volvo dealer as the courier's cost was almost as much as the tray and even if my local dealer didn't give me a discount (which I know they won't give) it would still be a lot less expensive. Then a mate told me he had one sitting in his garage that I could have so I jumped at that and collected this evening. There are 5 bolts required to hold the tray in place and only 2 of them pre-drilled on my car therefore I would guess it's never had an undertray before. I'll drill the 3 holes tomorrow and fit the tray properly but for now 2 bolts will hold it in place

That should help keep the engine bay a bit cleaner in the future

The undertray is now secured to the car. I needed to drill 3 x 5mm holes at the front (red arrows in the image below and the other two holes were already drilled in the subframe (yellow arrows)

I used 6.3mm (self driilling) stitching bolts, these are used for stitching corrugated sheet cladding together for buildings work but there is no chance of them self drilling into the subframe so I predrilled with a 5mm pilot hole.

I wish I was as lucky as you to find an under tray that looks near perfect. It can only happen to you John!!

I bought an under-tray from skandix for my 850 t5 but was then told they dont fit the turbo models. Is that true? Never had a look underneath myself.

Of the research I have done a lot of the turbo models were supplied with under trays. I guess the only way you will know is to try it for fitment
