I suspect it'll be a tad flatter than over here in the western wilds.

Hoping for marginally better weather, and windscreen wipers and washers that work. And no nasty warning lights or the smell of smoke.
Guessing your return journey is likely to take you up the A1(M), you'll probably pass by Lakes Autos at Wyboston near the Black Cat roundabout. If there are any bits you find you might need for your new purchase, it might be worth calling ahead and calling in or perhaps just calling in on the off-chance.

They were meant to be closing down "within a week or so" last time i was there about 3.5 years ago but seem to still be trading. With that in mind, a visit would be well worthwhile if there is anything you need or might need.

Oops! Abject apologies to all lurkers! Now I've put my foot in it. Just that I've been a lurker on many forums over the years, and a proper club member only a few times. I thought it was time to become a card carrying clubbie, even though I'll probably never get to go on a club outing, living so far out in the boondocks.

Is it pushing my credibility and luck too far to meekly admit that I also just joined the Morris Minor Owners club after months of lurking since becoming a Morrie parent?

Meanwhile, my thanks to the Laird, for having forgiven my rude behaviour enough to give me a very useful pointer while en route back home from the south. I may place an order with Lakes Volvo for a truckload of 164 bits, just in case something falls off en route..

And I have to here give a big thanks to Triple-S for all his help in getting me all enthused about 164s, and pointed in the right direction to nab one.

I don't know! Contact them, several methods of contact on their website. It's probably the biggest collection of Volvos in the world and i saw everything there when i went but that was 3 years ago now.

Sounds like the sort of place that has stuff hanging from the ceiling, like proper old hardware shops, an a barn out back presided over by a little chap in a brown warehouse coat who rememebers your name from when you last visited 30 yrs ago. . . Definately going to contact them.

Sounds like you've already been there!

It's run by two brothers called Bernie and Barry (if memory serves) and each is old enough to remember when Noah first started growing his beard! Nothing wrong with that, they're still fully compus mentus but a bit slower moving around these days than most people.

I strongly suspect the reason they're still open 3+years after telling me they were closing down is because someone slapped a preservation order on not only them but the yard as well.

oh yeah, check the celing when you're stood in the "office" - make sure that if what's above you does fall, it won't hurt!

I emailed Lake autos, Bernard said they have some body panels for 145, he didn't say which ones. I asked that, waiting for reply.
