Question C70 aerial stuck?

Since I've had my C70 I've never seen the aerial raise, under what circumstances is it meant to come up, whenever FM/AM is selected? It still seems to work.

What are things to check if it's stuck, is it always the motor or can it be stuck due to grime or whatever?

Thanks!

The aerial should extend and retract as the head unit is switched on and off, regardless of whether radio or CD is chosen. The additional FM aerial is located behind the outerskin of the rear bumper on the drivers side..

The aerial not working is most likely gunk on the mast stopping it from working. If you can get it extended, give it a good clean with a little metal polish and a soft cloth, then when polished wipe a little oil on the base of the mast and operate it up and down a few times, then extend and give it a good wipe to remove any excess oil.

Alright I'll give it a go tomorrow thanks!

This was an interesting job today.. I started by pulling out the antenna, cleaning it and spraying plusgas on it, it still didn't come up. I then suspected the motor, checked the fuse and it had blown. Changed the fuse and it still didn't come up, so went to disconnect the motor as I thought I'd end up needing a new one and wanted to get the part number.. Then I found a disconnected wire, plugged it in and the aerial now retracts and extends..

So basically it had just been disconnected -.-

Good result

A bit of a frustration to get to find the cause, but now it is working and the mast is clean and lubricated so should go in and out with ease.

Likely the PO never used the radio or used FM and was happy with the performance of the bumper aerial. Therefore disconnected the electric one as not needed. Not sure what side it's on but if nearside they do tend to get twanged by branches etc.

Yep it's nearside, to be fair it does work using just the bumper aerial. I wanted to make sure it works, I'll leave it connected for now and if it becomes a problem I'll disconnect it.
