Default V60 R Design 235/40/18 Tyres

My 2014 64 plate V60 D4 R Design has worn through a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres in about 16,000 miles which seems very poor. Very even tyre wear. Rotated at about 8,000 miles of use.

The set of Avon ZZ5 before were on the car when I bought it and lasted at least 28,000 miles in my ownership, plus whatever mileage the previous owner did on them.

The tyres before that were the originals from the factory and I think covered approx 25,000 miles. Would these have been Continental Sport Contact 3 as original fitment tyres?

What tyres do you use and what sort of mileage do you get?

I would be happy with that mileage considering they are pretty much best in class for grip.

I would of been happy with 10k on a set of michilin sports!

I'm running Barum Bravuris 3hms and they've got around 12k on them with another ~12k left (rotated when the fronts hit 4mm and rears were will at 7).

I'd be a little disappointed, unless your driving style and/or journey type has changed.

Maybe go back to Avons?

Thing is, my driving style hasn’t changed and I’ve had Michelin’s before that lasted significantly longer. I had a Z4 35i as my last car with Pilot Super Sports on which the rears were less than half worn after about 15,000 miles when I sold it. Fronts were pretty much as new. That car has 300 bhp, so I thought the Pilot Sport 4 would be a good choice for my commute in the Volvo.

I wasn’t a fan of the Avon’s, really noisy. I thought I’d get similar mileage out of the Michelins as I you have on the Barums.

My commute is 60 miles on 75% A roads and 25% motorway so no chance to drive it any other way than ‘normally’.

What do people get out of the Continentals?

I got over 20k with the Michelin cross climates on a 2014 V60, the original pilot sports did 8k from new on the front, did you have the primacy's before as they should last a lot longer than the sports?

Sounds like my wear rate isn’t unusual for the Pilot Sports then. Which is a shame!!

I didn’t experience the car on the original tyres, only picking it up when it had already changed to Avons. Were they Primacys from the factory? I thought I read somewhere that they were Continental Sport Contacts?

you can find out what brand of tyre was fitted from the factory but I don't think you can find out the model of the tyre

Ok, thank you. I’ll do some more research.

If anyone else has any experiences on different brands on the V60 or S60 on 18” wheels I’d be grateful to hear them. Particularly if wear rate differed significantly between brands.

I’d be over the moon to get 16,000 miles from any type of tyre on my V60! I’ve been having the same issues and was contemplating changing my wheels at one point... https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=290253

I am having 4 Goodyear Eagle F1 AS5 fitted tomorrow. I do 35000 map so I hope they last. Continental from factory have done 25000 miles.
