Thanks mate, hope it's ok tomorrow!

With Frankie you gotta learn not to bite lol He is a good lad and contributes a lot on VPC and a lot of banter too. People will hate if you don't have a printout, mainly because they have spent a lot of money to get to 300bhp themselves using big turbo's etc. I'd be made up if mine was 300 and I've spent a fair bit. Lucky the car was only 700 and sold old engine for £200. I'd love to see a 14T wound up to the max just to see what it does!

250-255bhp max with suitable accompanying mods (exhaust, map, W.I., etc...).

thanks for the compliment, but it stands to reason that if a 2.3 engine with a 19t produces around 300bhp at 18+psi then how can a 2.0 litre with a little turbo?

If a 2.5 litre with a K24 can produce ~350 bhp, how can a 2.0 with a K24 produce 372 bhp?

Not saying a 14T will make that sort of power, but it can make 250bhp with a decent map.

I had a 14T/16G hybrid, didn't make that much more than a 14T either.

It's all down to decent mapping.

yes but a t4 engine is 4/5th's of a t5 engine, not a completely different engine, if that's the case a 14t on a bigger 2.3 like mine should make 370bhp or so

This is not true mate, you need to research air flow rates on turbos.

Frankie, its not about displacement its about airflow. A 19T can flow X amount of air at X psi. Displacement is irrelevent apart from spool time as long as the engine can flow what the turbo can produce. If a 19T makes 298 @ 18psi on a 2.3 it will be pretty much the same on a 2.0 @ 18psi as it's flowing the same amount of air. The only difference is how restrictive the exhaust, inlet and head is. Hence a flowed head allowing more power, a big exhaust is more power etc. If a turbo is rated to say 39lb/min of air like the 19T, that is the max whether on a 1.6, 2.3, 3.0, 5.0. Displacement is irrelevent as long as the engine can flow the amount of air the turbo can produce.

As a rough rule of thumb you can make 9bhp from 1lb/min. So a 19T maxed out (39lb/min) on a good flowing set up will max at around 350bhp.

If what your saying is true, on a 4.6litre engine a 19T would produce 600bhp @18 psi

I think that would be a good idea!! I am finding those figures hard to believe as are a few other people here. I would love for you to prove us all wrong and when you post the figures (if they are what you say they are) also post a picture of the smug look you will have on your face!!

Look forward to reading the figures and good luck with the rebuild.
