Keyless entry - boot not opening
Hi all!
Having strange issue with the keyless entry. I can unlock doors however pressing the boot release doesn’t work via keyless entry. I can however open and unlock the boot via the key fob. Tried changing key fob battery but no joy. Is there a setting I need to look at or is this a potentially expensive repair ?

Ok so now I think the boot mechanism to broken. It won’t open anymore and I can’t lock it. Is there a manual release?

Is there some kind of water damage somewhere in the boot?

Not that I can see. Managed to manually slam the boot close after waiting a few minutes. The boot automatially opened itself after few minutes so suspect the mechanism is damaged. The rear light seems to go off itself after few minutes (even though I have locked the car).
I will inspect tomorrow if there are any water damage, or anything obstructing the boot. I haven't been using the car much lately so will also charge the battery. Worse case scenario, does anyone have a link to changing the S90 boot lock actuator? I have found the part but no idea if this is something I can attempt myself. Noticed past few days the boot wasn't shutting completely when I press the button so may be the actuator on the way out.

Have you activated Private Locking on the Sensus screen tiles?
If you didn't but it is active and don't have the code reset the Sensus in options. The light staying on will be the come home function where it delays to give you lighting to a dark area. Last edited by SnineT; Nov 22nd, 2022 at 20:59. |

I am just a little dissapointed that there is no manual boot release. Almost got into panic when the boot won't lock. Shame about newer Volvos, as they are not built as reliable as their predecessors. edit: It's just the rear lights staying on. Rest of the car is locked including side mirrors. I suspect the rear lock actuator is damaged.

Perhaps the issue is with a weak battery (low chance) but I will charge the battery tomorrow to see if it helps.

Just a thought,
Put the key in the centre console where the key sign is embossed into the rubber console floor and then try the boot. The pull handle in the video is either US spec or added to later models. The manual says after using certain buttons the button remains active for 24 hours so maybe you hit the wrong button when closing it earlier if you have the two side by side. If all else fails reset the whole Sensus but you could try updating your keys driver profiles first and have all the keys in the car by the console when you do it if you fully reset.
