This may be the air con drain, I seem to remember a modification being done on my car to prevent this as one of the many TJ' that were applied after there were quite a few reported problems with the drain and condensate collecting in the foot well.

Another thing to check is the scuttle panel drain under the bonnet, it gets clogged with leaves and debris and water can overflow the air intake and run down through the heater into the interior.

I had a soaked drivers footwell after my screen was replaced, turns out it wasn’t bonded properly and was leaking, with the water making its way down the a pillar to the footwell…

You are correct. This was a recall early in the cars history and they re-routed the ac condensate pipe. I seem to remember this was a formal DVLA recall as a large number of the electronic modules are all under the drivers feet in a false floor so the leak could cause complete immobilisation.

Default Water in footwell

Hi.
My V70 R Design 2010 had a leak in drivers footwell. Worse facing downhill?? Tool side covers off screen, the channels were blocked with muck. Cleaned it out but still leaking !!!! Re sealed the top and side of screen with black sealer. No issues since. Make sure to pack the sealer into the sides with spatula and tape up paintwork. Saves you a load of time. Hope this info helps.

Update as promised.

I got the car back on Friday evening and was told I would receive a call on Monday to explain what they did. When I got in the car, the carpet was dry and the air in the car felt considerably drier.

I made a decision to leave it over the weekend both because I felt there was a chance it was actually fixed and because I'm not very well and didn't fancy an extended period outside in the cold/rain.

I drove it this evening and the carpet is getting damp again. Not as bad as before but its definitely there. I'll be going back in on Monday morning to see what they say.

Get them to check the door seal under the door assuming the door has it's own one in addition to the one around the door frame opening that's obvious.

Update: Volvo conceded and organised for the Tumbridge Well's branch (50 miles from me), to remove and dry the carpets. This was done as well as the sunroof drains cleared once more. The car is now dry although its not rained heavily since.
