Default Both key fobs stopped working

Just went to the to unplug the charger cable.
Found the key fob would not unlock the car.
Tried the second fob this would not work Also.
Tried unlocking with the App still would not unlock.
Finally manually unlocked using the hidden key in the fob on the appature hidden behind the passenger door handle.
All hell broke loose alarm and horn sounding which I could not stop.
Finally they stopped on there own accord and on checking by placing key fob over the sensor in the cup holder I could use the car.
Radio was on and I could not turn it off.
Red message on dash red phone picture fault service required.
relocked the doors using the appatures in the side of each door.
The car is new less than 600 miles 6 weeks old.
Not a good start to ownership.
Any ideas on what it could be as I used car a few hours earlier without problem.
Local dealer to be called 1st thing Thursday to book in car for warranty fix and hire car.

To silence the alarm, place the keyfob in the cup holder and turn on the ignition.

Also, it helps if you specify what car you have.

I had similar with my car over the summer.

There is a couple of things you can try.

The first is to do a reset of the system that communicates with the keys and the app.
It may sound strange a strange way to do this but here are the steps.
Start the car by placing the keys in the cup holder and starting as normal.
Then press and hold the front screen demister button for about 30 seconds.
You should see the "LTE" symbol disappear and the signal strength get an "X"
After about 20 seconds they should both reappear and hopefully the keys should work again.

In the Summer this didn't work for me and I had to take the more drastic approach, which was to basically reboot the car (as these days its effectively a large computer on wheels)
Given the age of your car you may not want to do this but I phoned Volvo assistance and they talked me through it.

My Car is a T6 Hybrid so some of these positions may be different for yours
1. Disconnect the battery which for me is in the boot left
2. You then have to disconnect the backup battery to the computer that manages all the communications with the keys, the app etc (the TCAM unit) Its in the back right corner of the boot as you look at it just behind the seat. There is a little clip you have to release with a screwdriver to get the connector out. Volvo assistance sent me a picture so I knew what I was looking for.
3. Leave it all for 5 minutes.
4. Reconnect the TCAM battery, reconnect the main battery
5. Give it another 5 minutes and everything sprung back into life.

I would say given the age of your car if you are near a dealer and they can fit you in soon it might be worth trying the first one but probably better to have them do the second if you can. I went through it as I was stuck in France at the time on holiday.

Hope you get it sorted

Thanks the help
Car i 1 month old S90 T8 recharge.
Volvo assist came out last night but were a third party local breakdown company.
They did not know much about hybrids but made the car usable all be it with the use of the emergency key.
Got home late last night and plugged in charger.
Now find that I can get in car using emergency key climb over and open drivers door from inside.
Turn on ignition but cannot drive car as I cannot unplug the charger as its locked in.
Got in touch with local Volvo garage who cannot look at it until
Monday.
Volvo assist phoned again and are trying to get technician out today so the saga continues.
I guess the moral of this is cars are getting to sophisticated by far.
My second car Pv544 is 60 years old and I can honestly say has never let me down.
Sad thing is I cannot use it as the S90 is blocking it in and I cannot push it out of the way.ie with it being plugged in and brake will also not release.
Anyway thanks for your help I think it's best now to wait for the Volvo tech to arrive with the car being so new.

One thing that might help with the charging cable as I hit the same issue.
When you are in the car with the ignition on press the button to lock then unlock all the doors. This should also release the charging cable for you, at least it did for me.
You should then be able to start the car with he key in the cup holder and drive it.

Clamber into the drivers seat, key on the symbol in the cup holder

foot on the brake try turning the start control if dash comes on press unlock on the doors - this will release cable

if this does not work

turn off power to charger - should be circuit breaker on the fuse board - this will do the job

Battery reset should fix this. I posted some instructions for this years ago when mine failed 200 miles from home. Did reset and got home. I also recently used it again when I got battery overheating issues after the engine swap. It takes about 5 mins and with us both having T8s it should be very similar for you as me.

Will hunt for the instructions now...

Try this thread. Jump to post 7 and read down from there. Best to disconnect negative and positive and be careful not to short them. Leave 5 mins then reconnect. I will be really surprised if this doesn't get you going again.

Promised Volvo Tech due in next 1/2 hour so hope he can sort it out.

I will certainly study everything he does to hopefully? sort the issue.

Should he fail will follow the steps you outlined.

Thanks again
