water pump pulley
hi folks,
got my first breakdown tonight.. the 1st in 5 years of ownership, so i can forgive her.. driving home, my pulley sheared right behind the fan and left me stranded...i think the new fanbelt may have been a touch too tight. does anyone have a spare water pump pulley they can fire over to me with a degree of urgency, please? this is my daily driver, so kids are walking to school until i get sorted.. the part number is 418293 and looks like this thanks in advance.. gareth Last edited by redcar; Nov 12th, 2012 at 22:57. |

Yes, they get cracks in them and break out. I had one made a terrible noise for about 20 miles before it failed. It started when I was 2/3 of the way to work
In the morning. I drove it home getting worse and worse the whole way. The pulley came a part about 100 yards short of my shop... I have ones if you can't find one closer to home. (mine are not chromed like the photo) Chris |

Hi Gareth,
I might have a spare, can't promise anything but will have a look tonight. Send me a reminder text about 6pm so I don't forget and I'll text you back. 07519658818. Mitch |

not looking the gift horse in the mouth or anything, but jesus... my own car feels like a rolls royce compared to it.. who the hell would actually choose to drive a beetle? |

You have to consider cars of the time, the Amazon was equivalent to the the S80 or the BMW 5 series of the day while the beetle was considerable to a Hyundai commuto-box of some description.

that's exactly where i was coming from JP.. there is a huge following for beetles in the UK and the rest of the world... why is this, when there are infinitely better cars out there, with little to no following (and i'm not limiting the scope here to volvos, mind) anyway, simon pulled through and my pulley arrived this morning.. back in the volvo tomorrow |
