Hello. After having replaced all the spare parts listed in this topic and also of the others, the comfort is still not enough. I even had 4 new KYB springs installed. I think the problems are 2:
1 - the new Sachs shock absorbers are not exceptional (exactly like the original Volvo Sachs ones too, which perhaps were not great since new ones in 1998), which I will therefore replace with Bilstein B6 shock absorbers (I heard that in addition to improving handling and stability (of which I am not currently complaining) they also improve comfort (they are double pipe))
2 - I have the 4 dashboard hooks split (typical defect of the S70 V70 C70), therefore I will have to disassemble the dashboard and repair the problem. In fact, it makes annoying noises. Having solved these problems, I believe the comfort will finally be at excellent levels.

Early reviews said the C70 ride quality wasn't very good. My C70 doesn't ride particularly well either, but most parts on mine are old.
I do think the shock absorbers are the main problem.

I have many reviews from various automotive magazines. All more or less agreed on the stiffness of the C70. However they praised the steering, road holding and stability. Putting new shocks the same as the originals was a bad idea. We hope that the Bilstein B6 will significantly improve comfort.

It rather depends where you buy the "Sachs" shock absorbers//springs from............have a look at post 13 here

https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...=266319&page=2

Having fitted genuine Sachs shocks imported from Germany via PFS Volvo - the ride quality & road holding was remarkably improved - in the same way when I fitted uprated/improved spec rear springs, again from PFS Volvo made by Lesjöfors, they completely transformed the rear end jelly like wobble!.

Comparing a C70 ride comfort to a Jag's is never a good thing (even a ford based one). Jaguars are renowned for their ride comfort.

C70's are very heavy at the front, requiring a stiff setup and high tyre pressure, the convertible is even worse as it requires stiffer springs. I would suggest the issue is with your spring choice. I changed the factory T5 dynamic springs on my C70 for the comfort option, not great but a vast improvement in ride comfort, though at a handling cost.

If your priority is ride comfort, I would have thought B4 shocks would have been better than the B6

I bought KYB springs. As for the B4 shock absorbers, I know who broke them in a few weeks. While the B6 I knew were of a more robust construction.

Hello. What is the best shock absorber to improve comfort of C70 I (1998/2004)?
I read about the KONI ACTIVE (interal valve automatic improve comfort or handling, is true?).
Other premium shock absorber fame for this comfort?

I've been running my T5 cabriolet on Koni Active suspension for a few months, they are excellent and worth the money. They are still a stiff setup but ride bumps and potholes really well and have reduced scuttle shake. I have 17" rims but I think going down to 16" or 15" would improve the ride comfort.

So is it impossible to get a C70 I with good road bump absorption? I had bought all aftermarket engine mounts (premium brands). Maybe I should replace them with original Volvo engine mounts.

I have Lesjofors rear springs from partsforvolvos manufactured in Sweden and genuine OEM spec Sachs rear shock absorbers made by Sachs in Germany, the springs exceed the original spec but give a good ride with superb handling but then I have 245x45x17 ContiSport on the rear.

Beware, the Europart shocks and springs, although badged Sachs are not Sachs but are of Chinese manufacture made for Eurocarparts who own the UK Sachs trademark. The "Sachs""springs I initially bought from the did not have the same number of coils on each spring and one was marginally short than the other - the so called Eurocarpart "Sachs shocks" both had oil droplets around the piston rods...hence why they were not fitted and I went looking elsewhere for the real ones
