Replaced the rear inlet cam seal and fitted a new Bosch distributor rotor and distributor cap at the same time. The cam seal tool makes things a lot easier and is a worthwhile investment imo. It's amazing how such a small oil leak can look much worse from underneath the car.

MoT success!
My '98 C70 T5 GT was bought six or seven weeks ago as a distress purchase while my V70R was languishing in a garage. (Now fixed and sold) It came to me with declared faults (and a few undeclared as well ! ) but today it sailed through the test with no advisories. Yay! Sadly, another week till I get it back since Volvo don't do atmospheric sensors and a pattern one is being located, the ABS rings are seriously rusty and won't survive another year, the drivers door window motor is flapping around and there's the beginnings of an oil leak from the turbo oil return.

MOT success here also. Good feeling isn't it ?
No advisories at all and she ticked over 210k miles on the journey home. Running sweet on V-Power or LPG and boosting beautifully. I feel like treating the old girl, but being stock standard what should I do ? Perhaps an engine bay detail tomorrow if its fine.... |

My 1996 850 TDI estate failed its MOT the other day on, N/S drop link. O/S bottom ball joint gaiter perished, O/S front spring location wrong (suspected top mount issue) and number plate lights not working. I had a spare drop link, managed to turn the spring to its correct position and got a gaiter for the ball joint. The number plate lights is all that is left to do. Total cost £3.50 for the gaiter/dust cover. Just need to fit the bottom arm back on now, which can be a bit of a pain and hopefully another year it lives on!

Using rubber gym mats I made a boot floor liner.
It has a nice density this material. Not too grippy so that boxes can be easily slid in and out, plus it has just the right cushioning properties.Once it flattens off properly I'll re-trim some of the edges and glue the panels together. |

The 850 has been sitting in the garage since 30th September so decided it was time to hook up the CTEK and top up the battery.
