Temporary repairs involve using self adhesive pvc chrome sheets to help get the light out better.
Long term are:
Aftermarket units with projectors,
New aftermarket headlights,
Crystals from the C70's,
Retrofitting projectors to the housings,
Getting the original units re-chromed.

Replacing the bulbs wont do anything unfortunately.

I bought these when I had a MOT advisory.

Decent product at a decent price.

Hi, I have a 1998 V70 and my headlights became dim so purchased a new pair of reflector h/lights for about £90.00. Had I researched the topic properly I would have purchased projector h/lights. I think these give a lot more light.
My h/lights take the standard H7 bulbs but I decided to go for a good HID kit and the lights are now fantastic. I think however these would be an MOT failure in the uk so projector lights with a better quality bulb is probably the answer. I stand to be corrected.

When I had my V70, the lights were not brilliant (pun intended). I went to PFV and (well any time I've phoned) they are extremely healpul, know their products and are happy to discuss your needs.

I got projectors and they were top class items.

Yes.. me too. Parts for Volvo's Online are a good outfit. They've certainly helped me keep my old 1998 V70 Tdi going. I highly recommend them.

Was it ever established whether the LHD and RHD reflectors are the same?
Although for the £20 per pair difference it's hardly worth the hassle of taking the lenses off, cleaning the old ones and refitting them.

I would have thought that the difference between LHD & RHD would have been the lens rather than the reflectors, although there is a possibility of the bulb positioning / mounting also differing.

But as you say, the effort to convert and save £20 is not worth the hassle unless you are self isolating and very, very bored.

I can personally vouch for the reflectors being the same. In a previous post I mentioned that I'd bought a new pair of lights for my 1998 V70 from Parts for Volvos Online.

At the time, all they had were lights with LH drive glass/lenses. I took a risk and it worked out fine. The LH drive glass/lenses have come in handy actually because I spend a lot of time in France.

So yes.. no problem with the reflectors..

Dave..

Thanks turboboy and tdidave, it must have been tdidave's post that I remembered. As I said before I really ought to sort mine out, especially as I always drive to work in the dark, but the £20 difference means if I buy new I'll just pony up for RHD, not yet isolating but my holiday will be a staycation, but handy to remember the LHD could be adapted if there's no RHD available.
