Odd Vibrations
Hi All,
Really need some help. Ive been having some really odd vibrstions that i can not pin point and after ideas on what i need to check Car passed its MOT on friday with no advisories so really stumped. I have just had the anti roll bars and sub frame bushes (with inserts) replaced. The wheel will vibrate violently at 70mph and upwards, i then slow down and turn left or right and it goes away. I can then climb to 80mph and nothing. then after 5 minutes comes back. When at slow speeds and turning left or right i get the wheel shudder. Ill then carry on turning and goes away. Im a 100% stumped on what it could be. Could the engine mount be fubared? |

(Not) Good Vibrations
Had a similar problem with a 740 many years ago but never got to the bottom of it as it resolved itself! Very frustrating as I like an ending to a story.
Anyway, my immediate thoughts are the basics of wheel balance (either a weight fallen off or a tyre developing a bulge, perhaps through damage by a pot hole); wheel bearing developing a problem; maybe a suspension or steering joint wear? Just need to work through everything at the front checking that all joints / bolts / screws are tight after the work that has been done recently. If nothing is obvious then look at the rear.

Follow turboboys mentions and in addition, yes, the engine mount can be suspect too!
Cheers Gernot
