D5244t11 injector torque wrench settings
Hi all,
Noticed a bit of a whiff of diesel when the car starts, so had a rummage and 3 of the injectors are wet, thought I'd see if I could get away with nipping them up and found the bolts seemed very loose, I can't find the torque wrench setting anywhere. Anybody got any ideas what it should be? I've done them up to 15nm for now, which was about 4 complete turns, just to give you an idea. Cheers, Paul. |

Evening , from memory the injector bolts are one time use DO NOT re-tighten them .
If the injectors are wet , firstly check the spill return pipes are not the cause of the fuel leak . These are the fabric ( from original ) that run across the top of the injectors and with time / heat & vibrations they degrade & dribble . If you do decide to tighten the injector bolts again do not , buy a set of spring clamps & new bolts . Clean the thread hole with a tap to remove any junk that might cause the bolt to bind as it is tightened & wash out with brake cleaner , allowing it to dry before shoving bolt back . early engine I think are 28 Nm (21 Ftlb ) torque setting & later are only 13 Nm (9.5 Ftlb ) . I can almost achieve that with my fingers

Thanks for the reply,
Replacing the seals and clamps are next on my to do list. What would be considered a later engine? It's a 2012 v70 I've just driven into London this morning with plenty stop/starts, the smell has gone and much quieter when cold, more torque, so great in higher gears through the 20 mph zones. |
