??? XC70 2008 Wheel Options ???
I'm (hopefully, he says) soon to change over from winter tyres to summer.
Though one option is to leave the existing wheels and winters for that purpose, store them and buy a second set as my 'summers'.... The current set are 17" Valder fitted with Pirelli Sottozero's and I'm going to be looking for something a little different, OEM of course and 18" perhaps.... I'm not expecting a huge amount of options.... Any suggestions ?

We have been trying for a loooong time without success to source a used 18” wheel for my daughter’s XC70 so that we had a full size spare in the garage if one was required. (We’ve needed to use the Space Saver once and it was terrible.) We eventually bought a new OEM wheel and fitted it to the car in place of a rather tatty looking wheel which had the finish peeling off. We will use the tatty one as the spare. The new wheel cost £500.
Instead of trying to source four more wheels, why not just fit some quality All Season tyres to your existing wheels. We are using Nokian Weatherproofs which we think are excellent in all conditions.

There are alot of options for an XC70. Sargas & Valder (17") and Minos (18") were std. around 2008. Erakir is cool if you want 19" but expensive and hard to find a set!
All 18s (Zephyrus, Mantus, Ixion etc.) from the XC60 fit. Plenty on eBay etc. but the tyre size is different between XC60 and 70. I did as Ian21401 suggested. I just got my 17s refurbed and fitted all-seasons. Depends on where you live I guess. Suffolk's not known for its hard winters, so I get away with it!

Thanks guys,
I want the option of swapping between sets if theres an unexpected cold snap or if heading into the wilderness and of course to avoid the £60 bill to swap tyres (twice a year) So the XC60 wheels are the same offset at 55mm and width ? Interesting.... The 18" Minos look a good, strong design, though the Ixion look great too. I've found others since...Merac 18", Pontos, Freja and Argus....(which I really like in the Diamond Cut/Dark Grey option). https://accessories.volvocars.com/en...CC-480816/2009 Now to trawl the usual places....

I had Minos on my XC70, they were standard fit on Sport models I think.
Quite hard (and expensive) to find second hand. There is a company that sells refurbed alloys on e-bay (pxwheels I think) in some cases they will sell them on a straight purchase basis at extra cost but still much cheaper than buying new from Volvo.

The Argus look great. Never ever seen them though so must be quite rare. Ixion will be much easier to find.
Tyres should be 235/50 if using 18s on an XC70, but lots of people seem to leave the XC60 tyres on which are 235/60. Good luck searching.

I agree with Ian. Although I found Nokian tyres very difficult to find about a month ago, so I've gone with Michelin Crossclimate, and so far they've been excellent.

We obtained our Nokians from Oponeo without any problems. Usually bought two at a time as required and fitted by a local friendly tyre fitter.

I have the Ixion wheels on my V70 R Design ( Love them).
Try PartsGateway it’s a website that has lots of breakers who will send quotes for what you’re looking for car parts wise. They have Volvo breakers on there and others so it’s worth asking and you’ll get breaker from up and down the country offering you what Volvo alloys they have in stock or specific ones you want and you can compare the prices between breakers yards. Volvo breakers in Huddersfield are really good to deal with and really helpful people so if you want just give them a ring and find out if they have anything that takes your fancy, their number will be on google. They’ll post too so no need to go collect. I buy a fair few parts this way since they are all genuine parts usually with a decent guarantee too and prices are always reasonable compared to new or after market parts. .
