940 celebration spares or repair
My old car is most likely going to the scrappy. She is knackered. The nivos are leaking, something is knocking even at low speed on a smooth road, one front tyre wears rapidly on the outside edge leading me to suspect a suspension fault at the front, back half of exhaust is rotten and blowing, got a coolant leak from the thermostat housing, oil leak around the filter. Handbrake is a joke, engine misfired a lot when cold and intermittently when warm. Abs light puts in ocassional appearance for no obvious reason. I think it just gets lonely and seeks attention. Steering squeals. The black trim around the windscreen is coming away, and one of the front indicator/side light clusters is broken. Air con doesn't work. Probably other stuff I even can't think of or don't know of.
See. I said she was knackered. That said, all the body panels (metallic deep red) are in a good state, her alloys are ok but need a good clean. Inside, the door cards are intact and the half leather seats are not too bad, except the drivers seat which is quite worn. Gearbox (auto) seems fine. Seat heaters work, nice leather steering wheel. All tyres were changed a couple of months ago but really only the rears are good because of weird rapid wear on the front. I'll remove easy bits but I'm no mechanic so I'm not going to remove anything difficult or anything that would stop the scrap man from loading her onto his truck. I need the drive space for her replacement so just need her shifted so I'd rather sell her in one piece at scrap price if anyone wants her for parts, or for a brave and possibly crazy person to fix up. She's a 940 celebration estate, very lpt, all original as far as I know, 1998 r reg. I know she's had it, and any other car I'd just let the first scrap man to call take her, but we all know these are nice cars when they're not bust, and some parts are getting harder to find, so I thought I'd let you all know there's one getting scrapped, in case anyone wants the bits. Pm me if you're interested. Oh, she is in Teesside by the way. |

Oh, nearly forgot. Feel free to pick this post to bits, as I know some will. Fair play. The car is knackered. If it's no good to you, no worries.

Can you post a pic so I can see if it's the same red as mine?
I'd be after the wing mirrors if so. |

Any MOT? My Dad needs one after his 740 went bang.

sorry all, the car has now gone to the scrappy. I've kept a few bits off it which I'll list later. I had to get rid because I found she didn't fit where I intended to park her and I needed the drive space for her replacement.
@tim, she had an mot til early next month, but she wasn't roadworthy. In fact the last time I drove her more than a few feet, I was actually quite worried. The horrible noises and the random power outages had me tempted to just call the rac to take me home. |
