I have to say I don't buy the "it lasts for ever" line. What have Volvo got that nobody else has? Sounds a bit like your "Auto Transmission is sealed for life".
Have you ever used it for any length of time yourself ? It doesn't seem so ... Have you ever seen volvo publish a coolant change interval ? no ....
I have used it exclusively for the last 45 years ... my 1988 340 still has its original coolant , still bright clear green ( as it was back then ) and still protects down to -37C .
I have been using it is a whole variety of cars over the period with the same results as well as working professionally with it for the same time period in every model of volvo there is ...

There was one blip in about 2010 when volvo used a poor quality coolant in the factory which lasted about 2 years before going yellow ( corrosion inhibitor problems ) they soon reverted back to the current Blue coolant ...

The coolant you buy from volvo parts dept has ALWAYS been the best quality you will get anywhere ... have faith ..

I think a lot depends on your view on maintenance (although I use Volvo and agree it’s the best quality).

I myself flush mine, and will do the power steering fluid also. I accept the steering fluid is likly ok 40 years later however for me it’s low cost and simple hence I do it.
