Default vovlo s40 advice

hi there i have a volvo s40 its accured a problem its started to rev high by its self and when i am slowing down it stalls i have a look and cant not see any broken or spilt pipes any advice would be greatfull

Ok, last question. Does it have the Volvo engine or the Mitsubishi GDI engine.

If you are not sure, check your engine bay and see what it looks like.

Earlier Mitsubishi 1.8i GDI engine



Later Mitsubishi 1.8i GDI engine

Earlier model or the later one? They changed sometime around 1999 or 2000 (not sure exactly when?).

the later one
in the picture everything looks just the same as mine does apart from i dont have the engine cover
if it helps where the engine cover should be i have 4 coil packs in a line if thats what there called

My guess would be the throttle body. Either it is dirty and needs cleaning up, or worse case scenario it is not working properly. If you happen to come anywhere near Barking, feel free to drop by and I can read the codes for you with my Volvo DICE tool
