Wheel arch trims - has anyone tried these?
Following on from the thread on wheel arch liners I was wondering whether anyone has tried these trims. OK, they are not going to do much to stop the accumulation of muck but it strikes me that they could be a good way of tidying up rough edges etc
Any thoughts? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VOLVO-240-...item418339d39d

I dismantled a 1988 GL which had rather nice chrome trim round the sharp edge of the arches. I don't know how it attached - it was impossible to get off.

I saw something similar when I was searching for the arch protectors, and apparently they just clip on to the lip of the arch. I think the chrome ones would look smart on older models that already have quite a lot of chrome, but black might be better otherwise. I would think they'd prevent some rust damage as apparently much of the problem is due to the metal being laminated and water getting between the layers - or so I've been told.

Once the inner and outer layers have begun to separate and there is rust in between I doubt you would be able to clip them on anyway
My rear arches have just begun to do this and I doubt these would work I am going to thoroughly clean and the coat liberally with wax oil as a holding action One thing that I have done in the past to improve the general appearance when the edge becomes ragged is to stick a 30mm strip of black neoprene to the surface after first painting it with hammerite

Just got some. I'll let you know how they work out in a few weeks time when I get chance to fit them.
