Default Windscreen Rubber Seal

Hiya 😊

Has anyone found a decent way to protect the front part of the roof where it meets the windscreen, from stone chips, which eventually become rusty?

I'm referring to this section:

Above the windscreen.

I've seen some cars on the road which have a rubber seal all the way across the top of the windscreen, but I picked up a rubber seal from Aliexpress but couldn't get it to stay in place.

Wondering if anyone else has experienced this rusting/chipping issue and found a solution?

Thanks

I would put it down to the roof not being re painted well enough, Its not normal .

See, I'd be inclined to agree but I'm the second owner and fairly sure the roof is the original paint.

I also owned an Astra from brand new and that had the exact same issue also

Nearly all XC60s have a few chips along that leading edge that can bubble and rust. Similar to the front wheel arch issues with rust starting just under the plastic liners at 10 o'clock on driver's side and 2 o'clock on passenger side - seems an inherent QC issue in these 2 areas as affects most cars I've seen. Both XC60s I've owned had the issues to some small degree and all the ones I looked at before purchasing also had the issues (some to much worse degrees).

Really annoying isn't it...With my Astra, I ended up paying good money to get the whole roof re-sprayed, but they did a shocking job, and the issue occurred again not long after anyway.

That's why I was hoping to try and see if anyone had found a good fix for the root cause, rather than keep getting the roof sprayed as/when the issue occurs
