I have an automatic V70 T5 with exactly the same problem. Mine has been hesitating between 2nd and 3rd- it is intermittent, and most often when warm. It doesn't do it under firmer acceleration, and not always. I know my gearbox will probably need replacing, but I have had about 8000 miles out of it like this. You learn to anticipate it and if you ease off the gas or push the accelerator harder it avoids the hesitation.

While I am saving up for a replacement auto gearbox, it doesn't seem to be noticably deteriorating or getting worse. Small consolation, I know.

I have to agree with the other comments about reliability- I think for 155k miles mine has been an exceptionally reliable car and I would like another auto V70 (famous last words- look out for me broken down by the side of the road in the near future).
