740 gl 1989 for sale
Now my 850 is fixed my 740 gl is up for grabs, I used it as a runaround for around 8 months. its not in bad condition and has a long mot and 5 months tax.
There are issues with the headgasket but I put some american goo in and it really works, I have been doing 140 mile journeys twice a week with no water loss or problems, but at some point antifreeze will need to be put in. The mileage is around 209000 and 250000, sometimes the mileometer works, the fuel gauge sometimes works etc. There are a couple of small rust holes in the boot but nothing major and it needs a boot carpet(I have fixed all the leaks except the rust holes). if you are looking for a runaround this is for you! Im looking for around 350 with the tax 250 without. I will post pictures when I bring her home after leaving her at the mechanics when I picked my 850 up

Hi Captain
Don't want to buy the 740 - have a 940 diesel estate but would you be so kind as to tell us what 'American goo' solved the water loss/head gasket weep please? Thank you Simon |

Follow the linky above I tried a couple of uk seal sealers but they did not work. This goo really works! To use it you need to flush the system clear of all antifreeze, I flushed mine 3 times, then mix it up with hot water, fill the system up and run for 30 minutes then drain the system including the block and leave for 24 hours so it can set, then flush and fill with antifreeze mixture. I left the goo in as a friend told me its ok to do, I may well drain and let it set next week. Oh and its cheap (like the budgie)
