I 've had a brake judder for ages. I fitted new discs all round and new pads. Still a judder. Took it to test and watched the brake meter under test (I operated it), no fluctuations!!
I had a "bing" moment the other day. Removed the left front caliper and swapped the slide pins over (fully coppaslipped from before) and refitted. BINGO, the judder has gone. Now i will admit the boot is missing off the lower pin as it had previously been semi seized. So I guess there is some wear in the lower slide pin/bush. Can you buy a repair kit? 2 pins, 2 boots and 2 screw in bushes?

Cleaned and painted the brake lines before mot and tried to replace a front fog light but to no avail, the two screws holding the light to the bumper would not loosen. Tried to take off the whole bumper to do it and the two screws at the top of the wheel arch wouldn't loosen.
Will send it in for its MoT with the broken lens and ask them to fit the new fog light should it fail on that. Hopefully the CEM plays ball for the test, got the new relays in the post arriving tomorrow but I'm working from tomorrow through to Monday and it's booked in first thing Tuesday. Fingers crossed!

Decided to make mine look a lot less hideous by giving it a machine compound and polish. Very clean dents now.

Wasted £90 at a garage trying to diagnose its faults. They werent able to do so wandered over to the volvo garage and was told the problems are something completely different. Made the decision that its going to be sold as a running driving car spares or repair. im not throwing anymore money at it

Just passed its first new style MoT on 192,000. Minor faults were both front ball joint boots. Advisories were painted sections of brake pipe, discoloured front indicator and a rear tyre getting low.
Now I have 12 and a half months on MoT I will get it some new tyres and some indicator bulbs so they match. Just fixed my CEM by replacing the two headlight relays, quick 15 minute job which includes removal and re-instalation. The original type of relay has been discontinued so I've put the information for the newer relay I used in the CEM thread for anyone down the line.

Re-sealed the oil pan hoping that this is the source of my leak and not the dreaded rear main seal. Upon removing the oil plan I noted that there is absolutely no trace of any sealant between the mating surfaces. Very strange. Hopefully this is a good sign...
I got suckered into buying an overpriced "oil pan o-ring kit" by the dealership. I only ended up using 3 of the multiple O-rings included. Arrrgghhhh. That Volvo anaerobic sealant is not cheap!!!

Fixed my steering wheel cowl...
https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showp...2&postcount=40 ...but it seems my Latvian DiCE is kaput. Wouldn't connect to the S40 (last worked a month ago) and it's not connecting to the V40 either. DiCE test is showing it's communicating via USB but not with the cars. Still, it's probably saved me its cost in code reads over the last few years. Kinda glad I haven't used it more often
