Default 145 Auction - Help

Hi,

Just stumbled across a 145 coming up for auction this weekend at Anglia Car Auctions in Kings Lynn.

https://angliacarauctions.co.uk/clas...l-estate-1972/

Have had a hankering for one of these for some time, virtually since I bought my daily 945 around 11 months go.

Sods law, only found this with a few days left before the auction, and no way I can get to view it in time.

From the photos, looks quite good with some history and story might well be true, am very tempted to take a punt, but one photo did set alarm bells ringing, rust bubbling through at lower corner of windscreen, also video shows car running, and the engine did sound like a proverbial bag of spanners.

Sensible head - Never Buy Unseen, Heart - its a red/orange 70's Volvo estate, but hey, whatever floats your boat...

Any suggestions welcome, how much to aim for???

Cheers
Steve

I know two guys who helped with getting her back on the road, will ask what it's like.

Cheers Burdekin, that would be most appreciated if you can shed any light on this one.

Will check up the YT link you sent also later.

Cheers

Just been able to view the YT video, most interesting and intriguing.

Hmmm.... just had a bit more of a look on auction website and they will do telephone and video walkround, so might see if I can do that over the phone, and confirm paperwork V5 etc,

Have a feeling a lowish commission bid would be better that online, as I know I would get carried away in the heat of the moment.

Cheers

See if you can find if there’s a reserve.

If they are reluctant to tell you, say that you are equally reluctant to come and view a car whose value you need to ascertain.

I know you can’t get to see it but maybe worth a try.

Great suggestion Andrew, I'm going to give them a call anyway, so I'll see what they have to say.

I think a commission bid can be a good thing but sometimes auction houses can encourage a commission when they shouldn’t.

At least, as you said, it can be a good preventive measure against auction-fever.👍

It’ll be interesting to see the results of Burdekin’s research!

Just had a quick look at site and lot numbers published today, and some lots have 'No Reserve' listed, all others have a guide price, so I assume a reserve is held.

Cheers
