Default Aux/usb/ipod/grom

Hello.

Still looking at v50's but seem to find it hard from cars advertised about if they have a usb slot etc.

Many adverts say 'aux port for MP3 player).. If a v50 has a covenantal 2.5mm socket does this also mean it will have a usb slot for music to be played from a memory stick.?? Or can it have just the aux and no usb or aux an an apple 30 pin connector or even all three.??

Also I keep coming across the 'grom audio' option but seem to be unable to find much precise information on this option.. Will it work with both a single CD player or do you have to have a CD changer and will you loose the function of the CD player altogether.
A couple of years ago I was looking at a Dension kit for an Audi.. Seems the same kind of thing.

Sorry for the ramble.

Tony

Provision for USB / Aux in varies by year.

My car, a US 2006 V50, had a 6CD changer and NO aux in or USB in. The GROM unit (for US $300) adds full modern digital music support that appears to the "infotainment system" as one of the six CD's. I seamlessly connects to the fiber-optic network in the car.

I ended up adding a bluetooth module feeding a wired-in FM modulator to the antenna system for about $70. I am happy with the audio quality.

Basically, my advice would be to choose your car based on the car. You will be able to bodge something together to hear your tunes, no matter what.
