Volvo PV 544 for sale - needs some restoration or parts?
The car was complete and running and in reasonable condition about 15 years ago when it went in for restoration.
The car had spent most of its life in Greece so was bodily pretty strong and not too rotten but the paint was very flat. From memory the interior was in pretty good condition with the original fabric. If I recall properly I think it was a 1963, but it had a 3 speed box and was midnight blue in colour with a grey and blue interior. I think it had a 1.6 engine because I know my previous battleship grey PV544 had a 1.8 and 4 speeds and I'm pretty certain that this blue one had a smaller engine. The car was professionally dismantled and stripped and any rust was cut out and repaired accordingly. It was then discovered that the engine had seized and the restoration ground to a halt. So, currently it is a rolling bodyshell with the parts and mechanicals removed but it could form an excellent basis for restoration project as most of the difficult and expensive bodywork jobs have been done. There may some surface oxidisation but it would need to be rubbed down for a respray anyway so not too much to worry about on that front. It has always been stored in a dry and heated workshop. Sadly my father in law's bodyshop business in Pembrokeshire is now going to be sold at some point in the future due to impending retirement and I do not have any appropriate storage, so therefore the Volvo will need to be sold in due course. As I said before this car could be an excellent basis for a restoration, rebuild or maybe a hot rod project or even a valuable source for parts. When I have some more definite info and pictures I will post them on here. You can email me on ndakin@gmail.com or call 07709 33 67 34 if you want to ask more questions. Regards Nigel |

If it is a '63 it'll have a B18 in it. The engine changed in 1960.
You got any photos? |
